Standard Avon in a Scottish Auction

Wings like lace and no front tyres

Normally a Standard as rusty as this might not get onto these webpages - but this one is so rare that I have to show it to you in this state in the hope that it will be restored. I hope the new owner will be inspired by this feature.

The car is a Standard Avon  two-door, four seater Closed Coupé. It formed a lot amongst over 50 cars offered for auction from the late Freddie Cunningham's collection in Fife in Scotland. Almost all of the collection had been standing outside for a number of years, and as a result have been attacked to a greater of lesser degree by the dreaded rust. The Avon seemed to have been attacked worse that most. This wasn't helped by the fact that the sunroof had rotted awayy and much of the glass was missing, allowing all the elements inside.

The car is on the 1933 Little 12, 6 cylinder chassis.

The car was estimated at £1200 to £3000 but was knocked down at the lower end of this price range, £1500.

Whilst I wish the new owner every success with the restoration of this rare classic, he is going to need lots of skills, passion and resolve, not only to find everything needed to complete the car and patience to restore it. He will then possibly have a unique Motor Car

The new owners have been supplied with details of membership of the Club.
