This is easily the
largest indoor Classic Car show in the UK, if not Europe and now
runs for three days at the NEC, Birmingham. This means of course
that the set-up day turns it into a four day event for those
that are involved in the club stand.

Your webmaster was only able
to be present on one day, the Saturday and I really must compliment the
organisers, and sponsors. The facilities in the new halls at the NEC are
superb, the effort put in by the hundreds of clubs taking part is
staggering and the quality of cars on display is quite astounding.
Your club always tries to
show different cars every year and this year our theme was
"Commercial Vehicles" Four vehicles were displayed, an Atlas
Kenex Minibus, A Vanguard Pickup, a Companion, (the Standard 10 estate
car) and a Grey Ferguson tractor. There is always something different on the
Standard stand!

There was a well
attended prize-giving at the end of the day to which all the
Clubs were invited. No prizes for your club this year but we
have done quite well in these in previous years.
I must say a
special thanks, particularly to Brian Birch and Peter Lockley
the stand organisers, to the owners for the use of their cars, to
the many club members who helped to man and woman the
stand over the three days and the countless number of visitors
that joined us. We shall be back, bigger and better,
next year! |
