Member wins a prize at the 2005 Standard-Triumph Day!

Reg Johnson
receives his prize from Peter James with Graham Robson and Steve
Redway, commentators, in the backgound.
The Club always puts on a
large display of cars at this event on the late May Bank Holiday
Sunday. Though we managed to turn out 25 or so cars we are of course
as usual outnumnbered by the huge turnout of Triumphs. The event was
considerably larger this year due to it's inclusion in a Best of British
Festival that attracted a large number of additional exhibits.
The photos show just some of
the Standards present on the day As usual, if you click on any thumbnail,
you will see a larger version, them click "back" to come back

OK. so there were
also a few Triumphs there! |

The overall winner
was this TR6

At the end of the afternoon,
eight cars were chosen as finalists in the concours display and two of
them this year were Standards. John Maxwell's Flying 9 was joined in the
display area by Reg Johnson's Vanguard III. From these 8 cars, 2 finalists
were chosen - The Vanguard was selected as runner-up against the overall
winner, a blue TR6. Reg's car is an immaculate restoration and well worthy
of the prize. The judges can't yet persuade themselves to choose a
Standard over a Triumph but with persistence maybe our day will come? Well
done Reg!
