The Manchester Group was recently
asked to provide pre WW2 cars for a film being made by the University
of Manchester. The film, a short feature due to be shown at a
National Festival, is titled "ATA GIRL" and three pre
WW2 Standards belonging to members of the Manchester Group
together with a 1938 Austin 10 were used in the film that was
shot on location near Oldham in Lancashire. Participation
involved conveying characters in the film being taken to a WW2
dance hall whilst other vehicles were parked nearby. Another
Standard was filmed passing by during the sequence. The
Standards taking part in the film were Bryan Jones's 1937 Flying 12,
John Rowbottom's Flying 12 (1939) and Graham Hart's 1939 Flying
10. The shoot involving the cars was taken during the evening of
May 1st, 2006.
