SUCCESS FOR STANDARDS AGAIN IN THE NORTH WEST

The Lineup at the Park Bridge Heritage Centre

The Manchester Group had a successful day at the Park Bridge Heritage Centre Classic Car Show on the 7th June. This select show in the heart of Lancashire is an annual event and attracts a good selection of Classic car entries. Despite poor weather, the turnout was good and the Manchester Group Stand with some nice Standard and Triumph Classics attracted a great deal of interest from the general public. Because of space constraints our Stand entries were limited to ten vehicles and there was insufficient space to use our two new gazebos. However, the Standard Club banner was conspicuous on its newly constructed supports recently made by our Assistant Show Manager, Alex Robertson.

Graham Hart won the award for Best Standard in the show with his immaculate Flying 10 and was also runner up for Best Pre WW2 Saloon. In our Open Class, John Kelsey was runner up for the Best Post WW2 saloon with his fantastic Mercedes 220 Coupe. Congratulations go to our member, Paul Nethercott who organised the Park Bridge Heritage Show on behalf of Tameside Metropolitan Borough.

Our next major show be will be at Tatton Park, Knutsford, Cheshire on the 22nd and 23rd August when we are hoping to get at least thirty Classics on our Stand. All Standard Motor Club members are of course welcome to join us at this show. We will again be featuring a special "theme" on our Stand so do please come and join us. ‘Phone Bryan on 0161 483 7121 to book your place or e.mail him on Bedabrammerjones@aol.com Show Manager Graham Hart, Assistant Show Manager Alex Robertson.
