Sherborne
Castle Classic Car Show

For the second year the Bristol group
organised a club stand at Sherborne Castle Classic Car Show.
Unfortunately this was rather poorly supported by club members with
only five cars on display.
I arrived at the showground on
Saturday afternoon with my long suffering V4 loaded to the hilt
with club gazebo, flagpoles and other paraphernalia. No sooner had I
unloaded the car, then the heavens opened and I sought refuge under
the trees. In between heavy showers I set up as much as I could,
then headed for my hotel to prepare for the evening ahead.
Saturday evening was spent having a
meal and the odd swift half of ale in the company of Bob and Val
Richardson, and ever active Devon members Steve and Karen Lovegrove
and Chris and Linda Bowden.
Sunday morning dawned windy but
dry, and I arrived at the castle to find Len Barr already arrived.
In short time we had a full compliment of participants and the
remainder of the stand was quickly completed. We spaced the cars out
on the stand to fill as much of the space as we could. We had on
display Len Barr's 1913 Rhyl, my 1927 V4,Steve and Karen
Lovegrove's 1934 Ten saloon, Bob and Val Richardson's 1935 Ten Avon
and Chris and Linda Bowden's 1948 Flying Eight. During the day we
had several heavy showers and heavy rain as we dismantled the stand
and headed for home.
My grateful thanks go to the
aforementioned car owners for making the effort to attend and saving the
club from total humiliation. One wonders whether it is really worth
the effort and expense if members cannot be bothered to attend.

Thanks for the report Steve and the
fantastic efforts you went to to make this stand a success. II share
your annoyance that more members were unable to attend. Maybe everyone
within reach of Sherborne was busy that weekend? That's such a shame as
the Castle is such a fantastic venue. Maybe more owners will make a
resolution to attend next year? Contact Steve
here and pledge your support next year.
