Stoneleigh Restoration Show 2011 (from an 11 year olds point of view)
Inside Brian Birch's partly restored Standard Companion This week I attended the restoration show in Stoneleigh with my Granddad…Brian Birch. He brought his Companion that he is half way through restoring. With my phone, I went around the whole show taking a massive 63 photos of cars! Unfortunately, as much as I’d love to, I couldn’t use all of them for this report because it would take up loads of pages to put them on and write a description about them.
Next I’m going to talk about how every stand is interesting and educational, like here the bonnet is open so anybody can see where all the wires and pipes are connected together to make the engine run.
Here in this photo, on the other side of this car there is a man underneath fixing the engine and other parts that make the car move. Therefore, I think the idea of putting things on display was a very good idea because its educational for kids my age and younger, especially when I saw teenagers interested in the cars its good to see them interested, instead of sitting down at home doing nothing!! Here is a selection of some of the other Cars I looked at: (click on them to see an enlargement) Finally this is me… Sean Birch…… on a very small Land Rover! the man even let me sit in it!!! So glad I came to the Show and I can’t wait to come again with my granddad next year! Thank You for reading my report I hope you found it interesting. I welcome input to these pages from younger members of the Club. You are the future of our hobby and I would be delighted to hear from you and publish articles like this one. Please send your contributions by email to: webmaster@standardmotorclub.org. Many thanks. Phil Homer
