| This event is run by The Chiltern
Vehicle Preservation Group at Stockwood Park on the outskirts of Luton, about 30 miles
north of London. It is increasing in popularity every year and is helped by it's close
proximity to a junction on the M1 motorway. There was a suprising turnout of around
1200 cars this year, including a small helping of Standards from the local Chiltern Group
of the Standard Motor Club. Proceedings
were not helped by intermitent showers of rain and high winds, but everyone enjoyed this
friendly event. A highlight of the show was a running commentary on the local BBC FM Radio
station for 2 hours, featuring many of the vehicles attending, not just cars but,
commercials, military, buses and motorbikes. An open top bus ride away was the
Heritage Centre of Vauxhall Motors, especially opened for the day to display their
collection of rare Vauxhall models. |
