Club Spares Scheme:

The Club runs three Spares Warehouses.

Some of your membership fee is used to purchase new old stocks of spares when they become available. Therefore, to avail yourself of the Spares Service, you must be a current member and you will be asked for your membership number. This avoids non-members taking advantage of members generosity. Please don't waste our club officers time if you are not a member!

You can join simply by clicking on the animated link above, which also appears on every page on this site.

You should note that due to the age of our cars, spares are becoming increasingly rare, so please try to plan your restoration or repairs to ensure you have parts in good time. It may often be necessary for you to use second hand parts in non critical applications. All our spares officers are volunteers and the spares scheme is NOT run as a business. Therefore please only call in the evenings and at sensible times. Foreign members please note the time difference.

The club spares officers offer a supply service only. If you are unsure how to fit any of the parts you purchase, from the club or elsewhere, please seek advice from a fellow owner or a professional mechanic local to you.

Finally, we always need more spares! If you know of sources of Standard Spares, please let the Spares Officers know, and we will negotiate their purchase at realistic prices.

Bouquet: Mike Fennefick buys all the parts to rebuild the engine of his 1935 Standard 10

"A word of thanks to the Pre-48 Spares in helping me to find the parts for my 1935 Standard 10, especially Brian and Phil. The car was laid up for 11 years and is being sorted at the moment. I found these two men more than helpful, day or night, whenever I spoke to them."

Regards, Mick Kennefick, Ireland

(ps Please note - we prefer phonecalls not to be at night! )

Bouquet: Dusan Klavik is restoring a Flying 12 in the Czech Republic, and buys his spare via the Club's Webshop

Hello Phil and Brian,

I have received the spares today. It came all right, and it was very quick which points to the greatest commitment you are putting into the service for the club. Thank you very much for that.

Best wishes, Dusan

This store covers all production up to 1948. Spares for Pre-war cars, in particular, are becoming very rare. All owners are advised to purchase whatever spares they find, whenever they find them. Do not wait for a wearing part to fail, chances are it will be difficult to source. That said, the club has stocks of some gaskets, pistons, valves, brake linings, brake cables and ignition parts amongst many other things. Be aware that other spares are available as the stock is constantly changing. Please ask

VANGUARD SPARES NEWS UPDATE 28th November 2011:

As recently featured in the Classic Car Press:

Peter has updated the list of the Club's stock of  Vanguard Spares lines in an Excel Spreadsheet. The Club has invested substantial new money in further stock during 2011 and there are now over 1300 lines listed. We believe this to be easily the biggest stock of Vanguard Spares available in one place, so please take advantage by ordering today. If you are not a member, Membership can be purchased at the same time from here. You can try us for parts first, simply by looking at the Parts list below.

Please destroy any previous copies of the list that you may have. The new spreadsheet is downloadable from here and is in Stanpart Number order including a cross reference to all the models that the part fits. (You will need a copy of Excel running on your machine before you will be able to read this.)

Alternatively, here is a downloadable copy in Word.

Note that both lists are up to date as at December 2011 - but are subject to constant change. Note that when items are sold it may not be possible to replace them, so buy now. Alternatively, they may be replaced by stock at a different price.

Contact details for Peter Foster are as above.

Vanguard owners are indebted to Peter, who as a volunteer has compiled this list and manages the Warehouse in his Spare Time
