This section has now been divided into the different models that constitute this group of 1950's cars. Mainstay of the factory production during the mid and late fifties, these are solid, well engineered and reliable cars. A worthy competitor at the time to contemporary Morris Minors and the Austin A30/35, it survives in much smaller numbers, giving it a rarity interest today.

Standard 8:

The original model launched in 1953 with 803 ccs had no components carried over from previous models, new engines, gearboxes and suspension. Styling changes were introduced over the production run, particulary different front-end treatments, these can be seen in this and the other selections of photographs.

Pennant:

Different treatment to the headlights, radiator grille and rear end produced an updated look for this car which was ortherwise similar bodily and mechanically to the later Standard 10's.

Companion:

The Estate version was based on the 10 body and mechanicals and later on the Pennant. Produced in much smaller numbers than the saloon and approaching rarity today.

Commercials:

A range of Pickups and Vans based on the 10 and later on the Pennant. Most led a hard life in various small industries so the survival rate is low. Today these vehicles are rare and sought after by collectors.
