All about Standard Cars:
- In 60 years of production, it is believed that the
company produced over 200 different models.
- There is a year by year account of production in
"Standard History"
- Standard components were also the basis of many other
manufacturers and coachbuilders products, Triumph, SS, Jaguar, Avon and Morgan, to name
just a few.
- To make this site easier to navigate, I have divided
the cars into sections, related to age, wherever possible:
- The "Vintage and Edwardian" Section deals
with the earliest cars from 1903 - 1930
- "Post Vintage" covers the period 1930 -
1936
- "Flying Standards" were produced up until
the war and their postwar derivaties until 1947
- 1947 saw the launch of the "Vanguard",
which survived in developed forms until 1963
- In 1953 came the smaller "Eight's, Ten's",
then Pennants and Companions.
- Whilst Standard never produced a distinct Commercial
range, there were many "commercial" variants of the cars.
- In both World Wars, Standard produced many aircraft
and other "military" products.
- "Coachbuilders" features bodies on complete
Standard Chassis
- You can read about other manufacturers who made
vehicles "Built from Standard Parts"
- "Factories" summarises the UK production
sites
I am aware that there are other cars
and information that could be added to this site to make it more comprehensive, so if you
have material and photographs, please let me know. Please send me, Phil Homer, a
