1931 Avon Standard 9

Contents of a letter written to Peter Lockley, Chairman of the Standard Motor Club.

Dear Mr Lockley,

I spotted your name in the local papers concerning the Rally at Charlecote Park.

The enclosed photo was given to me by an elderly gentleman, since deceased, who had driven the car for 3 years in the 1950's and couldn't remember the make. "Did I know?" I couldn't tell.

Looking at it again recently, I felt I could discern a shouldered radiator - and if it was a Standard chassis, could it be an Avon body?

When I saw the article I thought I would send it to you to see what the Standard Motor Club thinks.

I should be very pleased to hear from you. and should it turn out to be a Standard, do please retain the photo for your files.

Yours sincerely

Trevor Morgan

Dear Mr Morgan,

Re Standard Avon

Thank you for your letter and enclosure.

I am most grateful to you for forwarding the picture. The vehicle appears to be virtually identical to a 1931 Standard 9Hp and I enclose a copy of the car from a page on our website, together with a couple of pages of additional cars.

I will certainly arrange for it to be retained in our archives

Yours sincerely

Peter J Lockley
