Avon
Flying16 Saloon is in regular use.

Tony Pingriff's car
has appeared in many features on this site, which is a testament to
the large number of events that it attends. As its one of the
prettiest large saloons of the 1930's, I thought that it would
be nice to feature it in more detail.
Its an Avon body on
the Standard Flying 16 six-cylinder chassis of 1937. We know of only
two others of this model. The car has been in Tony's possession for
a number of years now but the car was previously owned and restored
by another Club member, Alf-Smith West who now is unfortunately
deceased.
The brief
specification of this chassis is:
Six cylinder 65.5mm x
103mm, 2143 cc. side valve, 56 bhp @4000rpm @62 mph
Wheelbase 9' 8",
track 4'4" length 15' 0" width 5'3"

Here is a shot of
the car before it was restored, in it's original green, and rusty
paintwork. Alf would be rightly proud and pleased that his
restoration was such a success and the car is giving so much
pleasure to its current owner

I am aware that there are other cars
and information that could be added to this site to make it more comprehensive, so if you
have material and photographs, please let me know. Please send me, Phil Homer, a
