Splendid Salmons rebuild is completed

The handsome Salmons Coupé photographed on its completion

Salmons and Sons were Coachbuilders based in Newport Pagnell. Established as Coachbuilders around 1830, they continued into the "Motor Car " era as a prolific supplier of bodies onto other manufacturers chassis. One such manufacturer was the Standard Motor Company.

From 1926 onwards, thee company was also famous for the [atented Tickford Winding Hood. When this was applied to a car, it was given the name "Tickford." The company did however also build Drophead Coupés with a conventionally operated hood and these retained the Salmons and Son's name. This model, called the Salmon's "Sunshine Coupé" was built on the 1936 Standard 10 and Light 12 Chassis. Eventually, the company changed its name to "Tickford"

Steve Collins's Car is a Salmons 10 and he has just finished the impressive restoration that I have photographed here. The Car has been featured here during the restoration but Steve is now pleased that he is finally able to get in the car and drive it. I was privileged to occupy the passenger seat whilst Steve took me out on this photographic assignment.

You too will be able to see the splendid work that Steve has finished at the Standard International Rally, as the Salmons is entered in the Post Vintage Class. Come and congratulate Steve on the quality of his rebuild.
