Dear Sir,
It would be appreciated if  you would identitfy the car in the attached photo. I have been told that it is possibly a 1906/1907
Standard. It shows my grandfather, who was chauffeur to Mrs Oxley in the early 1900s. The Oxleys were involved in the steel industry in Sheffield.

Hi Colin, 

The car is without doubt a Standard Model G, 6 cylinder, 4 litres. It is probably 1910. I haven't seen this exact body before. There are two surviving Model G's and both their bodies are different to this one. Bodies were provided both by the factory and by outside coachbuilders and I am afraid in this case I do not know which.

The photo is evocative of the age when cars were the preserve of the rich and most would have required a chauffeur in attendance for driving, oiling and polishing duties. As Sheffield borders the Peak District I wonder if Madam in her formal attire had taken an afternoon trip into the Derbyshire countryside.? This is a really well preserved photographs and photos of pre- WW1 Standards are rare. I will be pleased to publish it on the Standard Motor Club's website.
