1910 Standard Model G You can see an enlargement of this photo by clicking on it Dear
Sir, Regards __________________________________________________________________________________________________ Hi Colin, The car is without doubt a Standard Model G, 6 cylinder, 4 litres. It is probably 1910. I haven't seen this exact body before. There are two surviving Model G's and both their bodies are different to this one. Bodies were provided both by the factory and by outside coachbuilders and I am afraid in this case I do not know which. The photo is evocative of the age when cars were the preserve of the rich and most would have required a chauffeur in attendance for driving, oiling and polishing duties. As Sheffield borders the Peak District I wonder if Madam in her formal attire had taken an afternoon trip into the Derbyshire countryside.? This is a really well preserved photographs and photos of pre- WW1 Standards are rare. I will be pleased to publish it on the Standard Motor Club's website. Kind regards, Phil Homer __________________________________________________________________________________________________ If you have good archive photographs of Standards taken before the First World War, or indeed at any time, I will be pleased to publish them. You do not need to be a Standard Motor Club member. They will hopefully be preserved on this archive site forever. Send them to webmaster@standardmotorclub.org.uk April 2011 |
