unknown model found in Australia

9 Hp based Standard
dates from 12929
Only occasionally do we
stumble across a model that was previously unknown to the club,
but it does still happen. This is such a case. Without doubt it is
based on the 1929 9 Hp chassis, but there is no previous record or
photograph of this bodywork, which I would describe as a 2-seater
Doctors Coupé. It appears to have a dickey seat. I think that it
doesn't have a hood so the hood irons are dummys, as was a common
practice around that time. There is no record of this as a factory
built model, but it looks too good to be home brewed.
We know that Standard
exported lots of chassis to Australia in the 20's and 30's and this
could be one of them. Perhaps it was bodied by an Australian
bodybuilder but at the moment, I just don't know. If you have any more
information about this car please share it with us.
My thanks go to Cathy
White who has informed me about this car. She would like to know what
it is worth but as there are no others, I have nothing to offer as a
price comparison.
