| Well,
maybe it's a Tourer body on the 1929 15Hp Envoy, or a later 16Hp

Dear Phil.
Please find attached some
photos of my Standard. Unfortunately I do not know what the car
is called, only that it was registered on 15th September 1930.
Chassis number is 117746 and she has a four speed box and worm
drive rear axle. Any chance of Identifying her. Motor is a six
cylinder side valve unit.
Hi Feliciano,
What a fascinating car, are you
using it?
My apologies for not replying to
your earlier email, but I have been trying to identify exactly
what you have. We certainly have not seen this car before
either in the flesh or even in a catalogue. It is probably
a 15Hp based on the "Envoy" chassis of 1929 but I
have no previous evidence of an open four seater body on that
chassis. Certainly the factory made 4 seater tourers on the
later 16Hp 32-33 chassis, I have a picture of this - although
the wheels are from this, the screen and bodywork are
quite diofferent. I hesitate to say its unique because
then someone usually writes in with another!
Until I can prove it has
a factory built body, I must assume it is
coachbuilt by someone else. It does not appear to be Avon, who
would be the most likely candidates but they didn't catalogue
a 4 seater open-tourer in 1930. The instruments are
confusing, this is not a "Standard" dashboard at all
and appears to be a creation by someone else, with a simple
line of instrumemts. What is the belt driven pump, which
appear to be an addition, is this a fuel pump replacing the
Autovac?
The chassis number doesn't help
me presently.
I will publish your pictures on
the website and ask members if they can identify exactly what
this is. What do you know of it's history?

Hello Phil,
Thanks for your reply. I bought
the car some years ago . I have used the car and it really is
quite smooth and comfortable to drive. I, like yourself, had never
seen anything like it before and unfortunately I have no history
for the vehicle. I had seen pictures of similar Sedan Vehicles and
models of a slightly later date but nothing like mine.
Unfortunately I have little time
to enjoy the vehicle anymore and she finds herself locked away
more than out on the road these days and I have decided to sell
it. I have been advised by an english friend that the car really
needs to return to its roots, the uk, where it would most likely
be enjoyed by a true enthusiast and given the chance to stretch
her legs more often.
For this reason I am trying to
discover her past so that I can pass on any information to a
prospective buyer, and also I need to put some kind of value on
it. Any ideas.
My apologies for asking so much
of you people at the club with your very informative website. I
never knew it or the club existed until my english friend pointed
it out. Had I known sooner I would have joined.
Any help with either history,
valuation or re homing would be greatly appreciated and hopefully
will start the journey home to england for the old girl.
Should you require any more
photos of any specific area please e mail me and I will gladly
send them on. Also sorry for the joined up picture, she is a
little long to fit in the shot. I will be taking some more outside
shots in the coming weeks.
Thanks very much.
Feliciano
