Feature
on a 1905 Standard 16/20 Hp
This picture is
highly compressed and will not make a decent print copy. If you
would like an uncompressed version, please contact me
This photograph, which I have
recently acquired an original copy of, has been published before,
but I make no excuse for doing so here on the web for the first
time:
This 1905 model not
only predates the oldest surviving Standard by 2 years but is also
significant because of its two occupants. These are, I believe, in
the rear, Reginald Maudslay, founder of the company just two years
earlier and the chauffeur is Alexander Craig, who was an engineering
consultant who could be described as Maudslay's chief engineer.

I am aware that there are other cars
and information that could be added to this site to make it more comprehensive, so if you
have material and photographs, please let me know. Please send me, Phil Homer, a
