A
Standard 10 in Chennani
This is the latest of
a number of Standards that have been rescued lately with the
intention of restoring them for road use. I have recently featured
Vanguards in Belgium and two in Canada, now here is news of a 10 in
India. I do hope that this website is giving the owners, the
information, tips and most of all encouragement and inspiration to complete these
projects. Please, Standard owners, send me photographs of your
restoration project!

Hi Phil,
Dear friends,
I am attaching along with this message some photos of a Standard
Super 10 which I have acquired recently. The renovation
work is on and I shall send you photos of them later. You may
kindly post it on your website, which I shall be delighted
to see.
Regards.

Hi Mr Sreenivas
Thank you for your email and
photos. The car certainly looks in good condition bodily and
hopefully will not require too much mechanical work. Good luck
with the restoration. I will publish some of these shots shortly
and look forward to seeing more as the restoration progresses
Kind regards,
Phil Homer

The last of these shots shows the commission plate of the car. If
you look closely you will see there are 4 screw holes below the
existing plate, where another has been removed. I am grateful to our
Indian correspondent, Karl Bhote, for the following explanation:
HI Phil,
There would be two plates in the
engine bay, the lower one seems to be missing in this car. The 10s
were assembled in Madras, so they had one plate that said
Coventry, and one that said Madras. My Pennant however has both
plates saying Madras, so I assume it was manufactured here, not
assembled, or at least had much more local content.
Attached is the ID plate of Prof
Rao's black 57 Super 10, MHJ 9922.
Cheers
Karl
