This photograph
appeared in the Daily Telegraph of Saturday 7th Jan in an
article about bollard design.
Clearly the
bollards outside Buckingham Palace must have been much more
substantial in those days, probably made of cast iron and
designed to inflict maximum damage - just look how the spring steel bumper has folded up neatly in half! Its a good thing the
driver only hit the smaller bollard, just think of the extent of
the damage if he had hit the much larger bollard, or light, to
the left of the photo.
I was asked which model of Standard this was and initially found it a
