Standard
8 in Scotland

Dear Phil,
Please find
enclosed some prints, with negatives, of my 1939 Standard Flying 8
Drop-Head Coupe. I was meaning to send them to the editor of the
magazine but couldn't find him on the website (which gets better
and better). Unfortunately I can't lay my hands on a back number
at the moment due to domestic chaos caused by builders etc. Could
you perhaps use them for the website if they are of interest, and
then pass them on to the Standard Mag? I don't require them to be
returned.
Sorry I don't
have a digital camera, except on my phone! (thats OK, I have
scanned them in - webmaster)
This car has
ventured out on to the road for the first time since it was at a
Standard National Rally in 1976. I have been living overseas since
then. The pictures show it at the Scottish Association of Vehicle
Enthusiasts "Wheels of Yesteryear 2006" rally, held on
July 16th at Lennoxlove. near Haddington, south of Edinburgh.
There was also a Vanguard and a 50's Standard 10. which proves
that there are still a few of us here in the frozen north flying
the flag.

PS I have a post
war radiator/cowling/grille for a 1939+ Standard 10. Free to a
good home if someone wants to come and get it. Condition is not
brilliant but could be refurbished.
Hi Tony,
Many thanks for the photos and
information about the Flying 8. Keep up the good work and flying
the flag north of the border - we need more of you!
I will feature the car on the
website soon so keep an eye open for it. I will pass the advert
on to the editor to put in the magazine
Regards,
Phil Homer
