 Two Standards in Prague

Filming the Chronicles of Narnia in the Czech Republic

Prague masquerading as WWII London

Hello Phil,

Three weeks ago I took part in a filming of a sequel of The Chronicles of Narnia in Prague. The part was shot in Prague Center and the action was from the WWII era. One of the streets was changed into 1942 London street with the typical phone boxes, air raid shelter, an old Underground station entrance overlayed by sandbags and typical bus stops with a double-decker bus. There were number of classic cars hired from Czech collectors and number of cars brought over from the UK.  Among them were pre-war Standard Flying 14 and a Standard 10. I was lucky to drive the Ten during the filming day and this was my first experience with driving a Standard. I am looking forward to drive my 1936 Flying 12 when the restoration project is finished. I enclosed few pictures of the Standards in Prague`s streets shot one day before filming.

Best regards to all club members,

Dusan Klavik

Hi Dusan,

I have now published your pictures on the website, thanks for the update on the Standard Scene in Prague. If the Registrar is looking in, he may be able to identify the cars from their registration plates.

Whilst Prague might make a good substitute for London, I hope they stopped the traffic so you could drive on the left! Also, if you have been to London you will know that we have have far from the perfect road surfaces that you obviously have in Prague.

This will make an interesting feature for our members. Best of luck with the restoration and I hope that you get to drive your Standard soon.

Kind regards,

Phil
