Peter Harvey writes, referring
to his father, Mick.
"He is really
looking forward to seeing his pictures on line and I appreciate it
must take some time to gather all the information and keep the site
up to date. I think it may give him a bit more motivation to
move his project along and hopefully with the better weather and
longer days coming he can have another push at completing his
project. He has been working on this on and off now for a
number of years and the car is really beginning to take shape from
the wreck it was when he first got it and I think it will be great
when he can finally get it out on the open road. He has
travelled far and wide to get different bits and pieces for it and
spent many hours in his garage toiling over and under the car to
bring it back to life again and to think you will be able to show
his efforts across the internet will be a real source of pleasure to
him.
Thanks again and I wonder if you could send me a quick note to say
when the pictures are online? I appreciate if you are too busy
don't worry too much as I will have another look in a week or so and
keep a look out for them.
Best regards
Peter Harvey"
Thanks Peter and Mick,
I am always happy to
publish pictures of Standards in any condition. I am sorry its taken
10 days or so, but I have a backlog of cars to put online!.
You are right, it
not only encourages the owner, but many of those that look in might
be tempted into action. The Eight is a particularly popular car to
restore and if your fathers efforts encourage a few more to join the
club and take advantage of the spares scheme, then so many more of them
will be saved.
To be fair this one is
on the downhill slope now. It looks like all the hard work has been
done. A few dabs of paint here and there and a run round with
the sewing machine and it will all be finished!. Look forward to
seeing at the International rally - if not this year, maybe 2008.
That's the way to do it, - set yourself a target!
Phil.

Below is a rather dodgy polaroid, which is the
only record of the car in its original state.

I am aware that there are other cars
and information that could be added to this site to make it more comprehensive, so if you
have material and photographs, please let me know. Please send me, Phil Homer, a
