Standard
8 Saloon in India

Hello Phil,
Hope you remember me......I'd
posted an article on Indian-built Standard cars for your site
once.
Just thought of forwarding you
these interesting but sad pics. of what looks like a Standard
flying 8 or 9 (donno exactly which one, hence I'm sending them
to you for clarification) that was sent to me by my friend Karl
Bhote from Pune, India.....Karl found this car among at
least a dozen various classic cars sitting for years in an open
space.....they're owned by a rich 'collector' who has been
collecting various classics but never takes care of them!
Most of these cars have been sitting neglected, as this one, for
at least 15 years and so are apparently beyond restoration! The
owner is also not willing to sell any of them & its a pity
because I reckon that Standards this old have to be truly rare
(at least in India!) & its a pity that this one is
to simply rust in peace!
Anyway, please feel free to upload these pics. in your website
if they could make for interesting viewing!
Hoping to hear from you,
Rgds,
Shyam K'chary

Hi Shyam, Hello Karl.
Its a 1945 -48 Model Standard 8
Saloon. It looks very solid, so it should be restorable, it is a
pity that the owner will not let it go. I
will feature it on the website shortly.
Thanks for your interest
Kind regards,
Phil
If anyone would like to try
to save this car, I can give you Karl's contact details. They

I am aware that there are other cars
and information that could be added to this site to make it more comprehensive, so if you
have material and photographs, please let me know. Please send me, Phil Homer, a
