Military Feature - Standard 14 Van in Maltese Museum

Standard 14 keeps a Hurricane Company

The island of Malta is well known as a happy hunting ground for Standards.

Two members have both recently and independently sent me shots of this vehicle which now resides in an Aircraft Museum at Ta Kali - the former RAF base. I have used photos from both correspondents  The small guidebook, produced by Anthony Spiteri, says that the van  was restored and rebuilt by Clive Micallef.

Whilst I am no expert on military Standards, I am going to be a bit controversial here and say that I don't think this is the genuine article. The reason is that it appears to be saloon based ( it has saloon doors, windows and windscreen, whilst the real thing had simplified squared off doors, cab roof and square corners to all the glass.

If you believe me to be wrong, just send me an email with your reasons!
