Restoration Project

Two
of the purposes of the Standard Motor Club are to promote interest
in the marque and to save as many of its products as possible. This
website is a tool for doing both of these things and if every page I
produce results in just one other Standard being saved then that
makes my job that much more worthwhile.
I hoped that the page
on Standard Gwynne Fire Pumps that I produced a few weeks ago would
raise the profile of these neglected
machines and hope that more of them will be rescued. Brian Murrish
in Cornwall has done just that by going out to find and buy this
example, for restoration.
The Pump, which is
based on the Standard Flying 8 engine and is complete with its
original trailer is now safely in Brian's garage. These are some
items missing, principally the magneto and firehoses, so Brian is on
the lookout for those. If you know of the missing items Brian would
be pleased to here from you. If you know of another pump that needs
saving, please save it or at least let the club know where it is.
Please send any
sightings to the webmaster
