Archive Photo of 1934 Standard 9

Hello Phil,

I am doing some family history research and am trying to identify a car that belonged to my grandfather. I believe the attached picture of the car was taken in the 1930's.

My grandfather lived in Coventry and worked at the Standard car factory.
Is it possible to identify the car type, with some idea of when it would have been made?
I would appreciate any help that you can give on this.

Regards
John Birch

Hi John,

Its a 1934 Standard 9 deluxe 4 door saloon. It is on the LWB chassis as there was also a 2 door 9 on the shorter chassis. Its deluxe because it has chromium plated headlight bowls and it is a 9, rather than a 10 because the 10 hp had the spare wheel enclosed in a "Boot"

Hope that helps

Kind regards,

Phil Homer
