1932
Standard 16 Restoration Project

The 16 as it
looked in 1974
Hello Phil,
My name is John Wilson, from Albion
Park, about 100km south of Sydney, Australia. My Standard
Motor Club membership number is 5358.
I have a 1932 16HP Standard which is
currently under restoration. I notice that you don't have a
picture of a 1932 16 in your gallery, so I thought I would send
you a couple of pictures of mine. Unfortunately they are very
old pictures taken before I dismantled the car in about 1974.
I will leave it to you to decide if the one of the complete
car is good enough, or if you want to publish it in the
gallery.
I can't believe I was so stupid as
to have only taken a handful of photographs before dismantling the
car. Family illness and other problems meant that I made
little progress on the restoration until I retired in 2005, and
even now it is slow, but we are progressing.
I have also just discovered you
article on the 1927 18/42 model restored by Gerald Atrill, here in
Australia. The car looks terrific. I would like to
catch up with Gerald if he is anywhere near me, and was wondering
if you could send me his email address - assuming he is agreeable,
of course. Or I am certainly happy for you to forward this
email on to him, if that is a better option.
I am also keen to contact anyone
else who has a 1932 16 if such people are about.
Thanks for the great website you
people have organised. I don't know if I'll ever make it to
a club run, but I like getting the Review each time it comes out.
Thanks again,
John Wilson
Thanks John,
Now look here, this is
a very rare car that you have, that's why my website isn't busting
with them. Due to the road-tax at the time we Brits didn't buy very
many of them and you probably have more of them down there is Aus.
It high time it was restored so I am glad you have retired, with the
intention of getting on with it. It looked very complete and
"do-able" 35 years ago! Please keep a photographic record
of the restoration, which I will gladly publish here. We would all
be delighted to see the completed car!
Good luck with the
project!
Kind regards,
Phil

I am aware that there are other cars
and information that could be added to this site to make it more comprehensive, so if you
have material and photographs, please let me know. Please send me, Phil Homer, a
