A young man called Lyndon Thruston has bought this Big Nine through Ebay, without seeing it. It is a pick up, and he was given to understand that it was originally a van. This is what he says:

‘I have now had the car delivered this weekend, it arrived on Saturday. What can I say? What a lot of work I have to come! The back of the Pick Up does not exist, there is only a chassis. There is no back to the truck cab. The wings are hanging on for their lives. The dreaded rust has eaten them away at the bottom where they attach to the door step and the rest of the car underneath. There is only one seat, and that is only a base. The roof has collapsed. The door are hanging on, but the wooden supports to them are rotten. I have removed the wheels to clean them up. We have had the head off and cleaned it up, and cleaned the copper gaskets. I have taken off one door to take it back to bare metal and refurbish the inside panel I hope. I have both headlamps, but one is not complete. The windscreen and passenger door glasses are broken. The brakes seem to be seized. We have turned the engine using the starting handle and it is not seized. However we have not tried to start it yet. We spotted a date printed into the head, I think it was January 1930’.

The car is in Stratford on Avon, and it’s clear that Lyndon has quite a task ahead.
