Mike Ellis
Thanks Mike, its all here
correctly.
Its late 1935 i.e. 1936 model
year, which would have been introduced at the Motor Show in
Oct 1936. Its correct title is an A10. In fact Standard had a
new range in parallel called the Flying Standards and this was
the last year that the "old" range was produced.
Whilst it has been restored, in
the most part it has been done close to the original spec. The
paint is pretty close. The bumper bars should be black not
grey, I suspect the chassis is all grey too, but I can't see
that. The brown dash would originally be "scrumble-glazed"
to look like wood graining but that skill is almost lost now.
Under the bonnet the only
non-original point is the coil which has been moved to the
firewall from on top of the head, where it was always too hot
anyway. The engine block should be black not grey and the
exhaust manifold would be bare metal, not treated with High
Temperature paint. The starting handle cover should say 10 not
9 of course. Overall though, a genuine and nice car.
Does it run? Looks like if you
connect a battery it will start?

Vauxhall Velox's (address withheld)
