Postwar 14 DHC Resting in Sweden

The 14DHC awaits the day it will be restored

Bo Legelious, our correspondent in Sweden and Flying Standard fan extraordinaire sends us information and photographs of this 14 Drophead Coupé. Though this is in poor condition today, the owner now plans to restore it to its former glory

Hello again Phil,

I enjoyed very much meeting you and other members at the NEC show.

Here are some photos of the 14 DHC I told you about. It has metric instruments and was sold new in Sweden.  It seems largely complete although the hood covering is missing as are some interior panels. It had been converted to hydraulic brakes. I was told the car had been on the road less than 15 years from new, after it had passed through the hands of several would-be restorers but not much had been done to it. There were some spares like a couple of radiator grilles, instruments, a facia board and some mechanical bits & pieces.

I haven't spoken to the owner since I went to see the car about a month ago. He didn't seem keen on exporting and wasn't really sure any more if he wanted to sell it after all. If you'd like to put the photos on the website I think I should talk to the owner first.

Best wishes

Bo

Hi Phil,

I have been in touch again with the owner of the 1947 14 DHC. His name is Michel Teike and he lives in the Swedish town of Tidaholm. He had good news; he has decided to keep his car and is about to make arrangements for its full restoration.

It is alright with him that you publish the photos of his car that I sent you earlier.

Bo

Thanks for all this Bo,

The 14 Drophead Coupé is the most desirable Flying Standard in my view (and I like typing é just because I know how to!) Of course, I am very pleased that such a fine car is to be restored. I hope that the owner or yourself will be able to sent photographs periodically so that I can update this page as the restoration progresses.

As encouragement, here is a photograph of a recent restoration

I am aware that there are other cars and information that could be added to this site to make it more comprehensive, so if you have material and photographs, please let me know.  Please send me, Phil Homer, a message at: Phil Homer
