Its a Flying 9!

Hello again Phil,

I enjoyed very much meeting you and other members at the NEC show.

Here are some photos of the 14 DHC I told you about. It has metric
instruments and was sold new in Sweden.  It seems largely complete although
the hood covering is missing as are some interior panels. It had been
converted to hydraulic brakes. I was told the car had been on the road less
than 15 years from new, after it had passed through the hands of several
would-be restorers but not much had been done to it. There were some spares
like a couple of radiator grilles, instruments, a facia board and some
mechanical bits & pieces.

I haven't spoken to the owner since I went to see the car about a month ago.
He didn't seem keen on exporting and wasn't really sure any more if he
wanted to sell it after all. If you'd like to put the photos on the website
I think I should talk to the owner first.

Best wishes

Bo

Since I last mailed you I have kept an eye on the web site, You are a busy chap, keeping it updated, I have sent off the application form to join the club as promised.

I thought you may like these photo's for your "Rest in Peace" bit, It took my two sons and myself 4 hours to cut it out of the brambles, then the farmer said he didn't want to sell it. I spoke to Chris Bowden and sent the pictures to Steven King, (a couple of nice guys, very helpful), Its been in the field for 35 years, driven in with one valve gone and left to rot by its present owner.  There's not much left now, unfortunately. Never mind, I was hopeful for a while.

Thanks for sending this in Alan,

"Don't try this at home!", let that be a warning to everyone out there. This Flying 9 is much too far gone to make any sense as a restoration project, though it might yield some useful spares once the owner agrees. If you want a project there are much more worthwhile Standards that could be saved.
