Where is the Works Ambulance?

The Works Ambulance at a Standard Rally in about 1989

This vehicle was used for many years at the Canley factory as the works Ambulance. Later it was transferred to Banner Lane where it performed the same function. Its based on the Phase 1A Vanguard but I am unsure who built the coachbuilt rear section.

I photographed the ambulance about 20 years ago, still in Standard Motor Company livery. My apologies for the poor quality, but I have scanned it from the original print film. At that time it was owned by Charlie Jacobs who subsequently passed away. The whereabouts of the Ambulance is now unknown.

One of our members has a very similar Ambulance that he wishes to restore. The Vanguard components are less of a problem to him, but the owner would like to see the layout of the interior of the vehicle so that his restoration can be as accurate as possible.

Does anyone know the whereabouts of the Ambulance, MDU 590 today? If so, perhaps you will drop me an email at webmaster@standardmotorclub.org.uk or call me on 01727 868405. Any clues at all would be most helpful.
