Another New Year's Mystery

Indian Standard Tourer

These photographs have recently been sent to me by Karl Bhote in India, who asks me what the Standard is.

That's a very good question Karl, - at first sight it might be taken to be a pre-war Flying 8 Tourer, but after a second look, it isn't. Why, there are too many chromed radiator slats for it to be an 8, I can count 28 of them. As the 8, we have established,  has  fewer stats, this must be a bigger car. The side shot shows that the cutaway doors also are very 8 like, which adds to the confusion.

So , dear readers, this is another request, but not a competition, if you know what this car is, please register on our messageboard and tell us more about it, or by email to Webmaster

I will update this page if I get additional information.

I am aware that there are other cars and information that could be added to this site to make it more comprehensive, so if you have material and photographs, please let me know.  Please send me, Phil Homer, a message at: Phil Homer
