| Club Insurance Scheme: The club recommends that you should insure
your car for an "agreed value". In that way, if you have to claim for a total
loss, there will be no disagreement about the value of your vehicle. Agreed value policies
are available from a number of Classic car insurers.
The club regularly surveys the
market for this type of insurance. Our recommendations are
independent and we are not
retained by any insurance brokers.
We have arranged for the club to be
associated with a scheme that was also developed for the Triumph Sports Six Club, that
offers the agreed value benefits that we recommend.
The club scheme
is available for any Standard or Triumph car or derivative owned by a club member but not
for other classics. Thus a member owning a Standard Eight and a Triumph Spitfire could
insure both as could a member owning a Vanguard and a Leyland 20 Camper or a Standard 12
and a Peerless. Bond Equipes, Warwicks and Swallow Dorettis are also
covered. A member owning
a Standard 10 and an MGB could only cover the 10.
The scheme only covers classics used as
second cars and the owner must also have the use of an every day car, either his own
or a company car. However Footman James are able to quote competitively on classics
which are used as the owners first car
The policy is available from
Footman James and Company. You will need to fill in their proposal form, ensuring
that you fill in the box for Vehicle Club membership and quote your Standard Motor Club
Membership Number. You will also need to complete a vehicle condition form. Both of
these forms can be completed and submitted on line, by clicking on their logo:
