Traditionally the first
major show of the year, the inappropriately named Bristol Show now takes
place at the Bath and Wells Showground, near Shepton Mallet. The
Club is an ever-present at this show and your club's stand was organised
yet again by Bob and Val Richardson, assisted by local helpers and
visitors.
The Club's stand comprised 3
cars;
-
1932 Standard Little 9
(Bob and Val Richardson)
-
1934 Standard 10
Tickford Drophead Coupe (Dave Osborne)
-
1934 Standard 9 2 door
Saloon (Steve Smeltzer)
Fortunately, for the time of
year, the show is held in (rather drafty and cold) cowsheds, but there was no lack
of interest from the public, who turned out in their droves, (herds?) despite the
gales and pouring rain outside.
Amongst the Standards that
came to light was news of a Mulliner bodied Phase 1 Vanguard Estate, (look
for the "for sale" adverts in the Club Magazine soon). A notable
feature of the show is the Oggy Oggy Cornish pasties, which come in three
sizes, Large, Very large and the size of Cornwall ! We can't resist them!
One or two choice finds in the good autojumble too.
Our thanks go to Bob and Val
for putting themselves out yet again to make sure the Club is prominent at
this event. Here are the 3 participating cars, click on any of them to see
