This event over the May Day weekend attracted 28 people in their Standard and Triumphs.

Starting on Friday with a visit to the Animal Health Trust at Newmarket followed by a start of event dinner in Bury St Edmunds where most participants stayed overnight.

The Saturday saw the group taking a country route to Framlingham Castle and the to the Long Shop Museum in Leiston. This was followed by a fish and chip meal on the beach at Dunwich. Then onto Southwold to our overnight accommodation which was enveloped in swirling sea mist.

Sunday involved a visit to a railway station with revolving platforms at Halesworth and a real ale brewery visit before heading to Flixton Aircraft Museum. In glorious sunshine over most of the weekend we headed back to Southwold for the event dinner on the newly restored pier. While we struggled through the enormous banana splits and knickerbocker glories we were entertained by a singing duo. We then had our own singing interlude to a song written for the occasion, to much amusement from the other diners on the pier.

On Monday we paid a visit to Aldeburgh and Woodbridge before arriving at the Ipswich Transport Museum and a superb guided tour. After lunch many of us enjoyed the site of Jimmys Farm (BBC TV Documentary) before departing for home.

If you like relaxed country lane driving and prefer being on the move rather than the "rally in a field" then come and join us next year in Constable Country on the Suffolk Essex border.

Always May Day Weekend. Contact Ian Leggett for more information or see the Standard Review advert in December 2005 or the Events List Page.
