An Early chance to use the Cars!

The cars gather at Earlswood Lakes Craft Centre prior to the run.

It's become traditional to incorporate a Roadrun into the agenda for the Day of the AGM.

We arrived at Earlswood Lakes at 10.30am, time for coffee and breakfast for those that wanted it before the set off at 11.00am. John Matson seemed to have come the furthest, from Scarborough, having journeyed down the day before in his 1938 Flying 12. My apologies if anyone came further - we should have a long distance award! I rode shotgun for the Chairman in his Standard 8 - is it wise to put two such obviously important members in the same car? We really should spread out our most valuable assets don't you think? How would the club cope if the unthinkable were to happen?

( probably quite well I hear you say !)

This years run was organised by Steve O'Hara and was the sort of run I like.  That means he finds the smallest lanes possible - the ones with grass growing up the middle - and as a result we visit parts of the countryside that few others have seen!

A couple of the shots below show the cars in convoy.

As usual you can click on the smaller pictures to see enlarged versions of the photos:

Shortly after mid-day we arrived at the West Midlands Golf Club, where lunch had been arranged. More members joined us for the lunch, then shortly after 2.00pm everyone was ready for the AGM

The lunch party at the West Midlands Golf Club, good food, but why are we eating in a corridor?

Come back soon for Part II
