Postwar Standard 12
Coupe and 1930 Big Nine
The Wirral Group
organised this visit to the
Anderton Boat Lift, a fantastic piece of Victorian engineering,
nestling in the heart of Cheshire to raise funds for Marie Curie Cancer
Care. Two Standards attended but in total there were fifteen cars
including two Morris Minors, an Austin Healey, a Triumph Spitfire, an
MGA, MG midget and a "pack" of MG Roadsters and BGTs. It was
really good to see three local clubs come together for this event
The event went very
well with the cars drawing a great deal of attention from canal users
and other visitors to the boat lift and in total over £90.00 was raised
for this worthy cause.
The photographs below show George Curley’s 1946 Standard 12 Drophead Coupe and Bryn
Heeley’s 1930 Big Nine together with shots of the other vehicles that
attended. Many thanks for all who took time out of a busy Fathers Day to
make the trip.
A similar event is
planned to Erddig Hall near Wrexham in August. This event, again to
raise funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care, will include a road run
beforehand finishing at Erddig Hall for lunch. Please see details in the
club magazine and on this website.

usual you can see enlargements of the photos below just by clicking on
