The
Manchester and North West Group held its Annual Christmas Lunch outing
in the Pavilion Gardens Restaurant, Buxton, on Sunday, 3rd December,
2006. A total of thirty people attended including the very
welcome attendance of Mike Wilkes and members of his family.
Brian Shakespeare, our very popular "Dr Vanguard" also
came along, his presence always being welcomed by the the
Group's members.
It
was nice to see once again Carol and Steven Madeley who had travelled
from South Wales to attend the lunch. Carol who is a great Group
supporter undertook a sponsored walk for the Group in 2004 and raised
over £400 for Group funds. Gareth Ireland, another faithful
supporter travelled from Liverpool to attend the function.
Laura
Donnellan, one of our most junior members was presented with a locket
for her dedication in supporting the Group over the last few
years.
The
weather, although cold was fine and after the lunch many of the
members attended an Antiques Fair that was being held in the Pavilion
Gardens Complex during the afternoon.
Altogether,
the day was deemed a great success. The Group's Organiser brought
the afternoon to a close by thanking everyone for their support and promised
them an interesting Group programme for 2007. Anyone wishing to
