SOME OF THE MANCHESTER GROUP, SMC MEMBERS OUTSIDE THE COCK O' BUDWORTH, CHESHIRE
The Manchester Group joined forces with
the Riley RM North West Group for the "Drive it Day" road run
on Sunday, 23rd April, 2006. Twelve Classic vehicles took
part with nine Manchester Group vehicles participating. Thirty-five
enthusiasts attended the Run which was the first of the Group’s
planned road runs for 2006.
The weather was glorious and the
starting venue was the Nag’s Head Inn at Bowden near Altrincham where
on arrival a busy car boot sale was in full swing. Then on to the quaint
little Cheshire village of Great Budworth with its picturesque houses
and church. Sunday lunch was taken at the Cock O’ Budworth Inn where
the Group had reserved its own private room for what turned out to be an
excellent meal.
After lunch the convoy of Classics
journeyed through some wonderful Cheshire countryside and later passing
by the Lion Salt Works and Museum at Marston. Finally, the Road Run
ended at the Cuckoo Clock Museum (Cuckooland) near Knutsford in
Cheshire. This museum houses some 627 cuckoo clocks and has probably the
largest collection of cuckoo clocks in the world .
All who attended the Run agreed that it
had been a very enjoyable day out and the Classics attracted
considerable interest from the public as the convoy passed through the
Cheshire villages.
The next major event being staged by
the Manchester Group will be the Manchester Group Stand at the Tatton
Park Classic Car Show and Autojumble, near Knutsford on the 3rd
and 4th June, 2006. All members are welcome to exhibit on the
Stand, contact Bryan on 0161 483 7121 or e.mail Bedabrammerjones@aol.com.
