Paul Newsome fixes the back axle of his Flying 8, whilst hoping that it morphs into an E-type Jag!

The last weekend in March finds a club display at the National Restoration Show at Stoneleigh. Paul Newsome organised the stand which consisted of his Flying 8 project car, a Flying 9 alongside it to show the sort of thing that the car will be transformed into plus a local Standard 10 Companion to add interest to the stand.

Paul certainly had to put in lots of work. This is just a one day how, so set-up day is Saturday and the whole thing has to be broken down on Sunday evening. Unlike all other car shows, the clubs are asked to put on a demonstration of a repair or restoration of their marque. This makes for a great deal more interest than just a parade of shiny cars. Paul decided to demonstrate the assembly ( and disassembly) of his front and rear suspension. By the end of the day the threads were so loose he could almost take the car apart by shouting at the nuts and bolts!

 A large number of local members turned up to help man the stand and field questions from the public. I couldn't help think that the amount of interest from the public was down this year as were the total number of stands from both clubs and traders.
