This
one-day show was held at the National Agricultural Centre at
Stoneleigh in late November. It was a resounding success, and the Club
won third prize and a cheque for £100 towards funds.
The
show's organisers actively encourages Clubs to carry out restorations
on their stand to make their exhibits more interesting. This year the
club responded by starting a paintwork restoration on our Chairman
Peter Lockley's Standard 8.
Peter
looked, understandably, slightly nervous as the rest of the members on
the Stand started to demolish the front end of his Standard. Off came
the bumper and lights and then the front panel. Mike and Brian then
started chiselling out the rust from the front panel and around the
headlights. It certainly created something interesting for our
visitors to see. Of course the work wasn't finished, so the car was
trailered away at the end of the day for the work to be completed
elsewhere.
Thanks
must go to Peter for being the Guinea Pig and to Brian Birch and Mike
Wilks who volunteered to carry out the work. No doubt I will feature
it here when the car is completed.
