North
Wales Group at Cholmonderley Castle.

Line-up of
Standards at Chalmonderley Castle
Six
cars travelled from as far a field as Liverpool and Abergele, North
Wales to support the North Wales Group at the Cholmonderley Castle
Show, Cheshire on the 10th May 2009. This 18th festival of 1000
Classics organised by the Andrew Greenwood organisation draws in a
wonderful range of vehicle of all types and ages with the show being
set within the countryside home of Lord Cholmonderley.
The
group stand displayed a superb collection of cars which included the
two 1950s Eights of Derek James and John Parry, the 1958 Ten of Geoff
Taylor, the Flying 12 Drophead of George Curley and my 1930 Big Nine.
An MG BGT of Cliff Heeley completed the line up as an "open
section" visitor.
Throughout
the day the stand was popular with the public and drew many visitors,
most of them current of former keepers of Standard Motor Cars. Two of
the groups cars were welcomed into the exhibition ring with Derek
James Eight being the highlight of the 1950 class whilst my Big Nine
receiving the runner up prize in the pre 1950s class (second out of
three cars !!!).
Many
thanks to all the members who supported us at this event and made it
the success that it was.
If you
fancy joining the group why not come along to our next gatherings on
15th July at our "Members Car Night" and/or on the 19th July
at The Caerwys Show. For further details ring me on 01352 733637
