Cholmondeley Castle Classic Car Show

The following report on a show held in May has recently been received in the webmaster's email in-tray. I am delighted to see it, late though it is. If you have more reports in North Wales, please send them on. The whole Club loves to see your cars!

The North Wales Standard Group organized another fantastic stand at the Cholmondeley Castle Classic Car Show Sunday 9th May 2010.

We had the usual comments that "We had one of these during the 40's and 50's,the public had very fond memories of the ownership of Standard Cars.

Derek James showed how committed he and Maureen are to the club when their Vanguard suffered fuel problem on route they limped home and picked their Fabulous Standard 8 to attend the show.

One of our newest Wirral members Janet Davey kept the group well fed with an mouth watering home made coffee cake.

The Stand was well attended by members,

  • Janet/Brian Davey little 9.Andy.

  • Helen Bennet little 9,

  • Deryl/Richard Gosmore little 9,

  • Bryn Heeley Big 9,

  • Frank Williams Big 9,

  • George Curley 12 DHC,

  • Wally Aimers 8 special,

  • Derek/Maureen James 8,

  • Geoff Taylor 10,

  • Phil Barrett Phase 3,

as well as non members with a Vauxhall 12 and 3 MGB's.

The Club Stand won the runners up prize which out of  25/30 stands at the show was very good. Here are some more photos of the cars, click on any of them to see an enlargement
