Restoration
Show at the NAC
Now for
something a little bit different:

Some of the helpers on the Club's Stand
Not a show for shining up the paintwork or polishing the
chrome, the Restoration show is all about working on the cars and is supported
by traders and autojumblers who provide the parts. This year was no exception.
Your club provided two cars, both of them Standard 10s and both having work
carried out live on them, on stage, so to speak.
The first was the newly painted Standrive 10 presented by Mike
Wilkes. The car is affectionately known as the Green Pea, for obvious reasons.
Mike was carrying our reassembly work on his car. In the blue corner Malcolm
Graham was demonstrating how to change a front Shock absorber on his 10 - at
least he would have been - you need to read the tale of woe associated with
these photos:

| The Battery box should have a hole in the bottom plate to
allow access to the top of the shock absorber. On this car a previous
owner has welded in a new plate with no hole. |
Malcolm therefore has to set about drilling a new hole
with his power drill and hole cutter, followed by a fairly heavy chisel
- |
- And the end result is a new hole that eventually allowed
the intended job to proceed. |
Just an example of the complications that you can come across
that you don't expect if you are working on your classic.
Many thanks to all those who helped on the Club stand
especially the two owners Malcolm and Mike and the members who visited us to
see what was going on.
