Standard Register Rally -2011

Impromptu Coffee Stop on the Saturday Roadrun

The Standard Register Annual Rally for pre 1931 Standards took place over a weekend in early August. Based at the Hellidon Lakes Hotel, part of the QHotel Group, (which entertained us so well at the International Rally at the Stratford Manor Hotel), the event was ably organised by Len Barr.

Gathering for dinner on Friday, most of Saturday was occupied by a Roadrun around the local area with a lunch stop at The Green Man at Lavendon, Buckinghamshire.   After a great buffet lunch, the cars set off on the afternoon drive back to the hotel, some stopping at the Canal Museum at Stoke Bruerne and also the "Red Lion" at Hellidon for refreshing real ale.

Saturday Dinner also incorporated a prizegiving. Sunday morning comprised a shorter Roadrun to the "Blue Lias! at Stockton where the cars lined up with a Selection of TR's from the locail TR Register Group. Lunch was shared with the TR owners.

A highly successful event in exercising the more elderly Standards over not too strenuous roads. No breakdowns to report which is a true testament to the design and reliability of our marque. Don't forget that the youngest car present was over 80 years old with the oldest 100 years old !

All active Pre-1931 Standards are automatically invited to Register Rallies.

A particularly welcome attendee was John Blanckley's partly restored 1910 Model J. We look forward to seeing more of this very early survivor:
