THE Club stand organised by the Publicity Officer The Gloucestershire
Steam & Vintage Extravaganza is an event that will enthrall and entertain
the entire family from the moment you step inside the gates. So vast is the site
and enjoyable the varied exhibits that many people return to the event for a
second day as to see everything in one visit is pretty near impossible to
achieve. People both young and
old are left in awe of the sights and sounds that can be found in, around and
even above the showground. For your time with us you will be rewarded by not
only a huge Steam & Vintage Rally, but also many elements found at a Country
Show and of course the excitement of Aircraft coming and going all thrown in
making the event value for money and one of the most unforgettable days out of
the summer. ATTRACTIONS

We hope to leave at 9a.m. from Chris and Linda’s house and travel via the old A38 to Willand where we will meet Ray and Julie Horne. Carrying on the old A38 via Taunton, Bridgwater and Highbridge a coffee stop will be made soon after. We will join the M5 briefly to cross the Avon Bridge then off again to rejoin the A38 en route for Gloucester. Lunch at a pub between Bristol and Gloucester hopefully. From Gloucester we will take the A417 through Maisemore and Hartpury as far as Staunton where we turn onto the B4208. At Castlemorton on the B4208 there is a pub on the right-hand side called the Plume of Feathers. This may be a good place to meet Dennis and Sheila Brown from South Wales, Bob and Val Richardson from Frome and the Cattermoles from the New Forest. I am unsure whether the pub will be open but if not then we will continue along the B4208 a short way, past a red phone box on the left and we will be parked in the next side road, and in good view. The difficulty could be with timing, I am guessing we will be at the pub at around 3 p.m. It may be a good idea for me to phone the people we hope to meet there, while we are having our lunch south of Bristol, and to this end I need everyones mobile phone number that they will be using for the holiday as soon as possible, and of course when we are travelling, please keep them switched on ! Once we are all together, we will continue on the B4208 to Welland where we join the B4209 to Hanley Castle. From there onto the B4211 and B4424 to Powick. Hopefully we will all still be together for bypassing Worcester by some local roads and the A443 to Holt Heath. Once we get to Holt Heath we join the B4196 in the general direction of Stourport on Severn getting onto the B4194 to avoid the town. This road takes us through Bewdley and onto Kinlet. Just beyond Kinlet we take the B4555 to Highley and onto the Bulls Head at Chelmarsh. PROGRAMME OF EVENTS
Coalbrookdale area arriving 10-10.30a.m. No reserved parking for us here but there should be no problem on keeping together at that time of the day.
Blists Hill Museum area again arriving 10-10.30a.m. There will be a designated area where all the Standards can park together.
Black Country Museum, Dudley arriving 10.30a.m. Again another designated parking area for Standards.
Severn Valley Railway, Bewdley Railway Station. Reserved parking again.
Travel home. On Friday and Saturday there are eleven museums available to us and there is a discount passport available on the day, some of you may have seen one or two of them already. There are no ties, if you wish to pop off shopping please do so, this is a most informal holiday, honestly. I have arranged a block admission ticket for our group at the Black Country Museum on the Sunday, please pay me the night before. For the Severn Valley Railway you will be free to ride on the train all day if you wish or even leave the car at the station and see the sights of Bewdley town. No pressure. We are to be joined by Steve O’Hara from the Friday night to the Sunday night at our accommodation and there have been promises of day visitors with their Standards to the venues also. I have left it open that if any of them want to eat with us at the Bulls Head in the evening they would be most welcome but they will have to book themselves in. I would suggest a "standard" eating time of 8.30a.m. breakfast and 7.30 p.m. dinner if that is alright with everyone to make it easier for our landlady. CAN YOU LET ME HAVE YOUR MOBILE PHONE NUMBERS ASAP so that I can list them on one sheet and let everyone have a copy. DON’T FORGET YOUR PHONE CHARGER ALSO If anyone is unhappy with any of this spiel please let me know. You can email me your mobile phone number on hawksworth147@talktalk.net Or phone me one evening on 01872-560477 Or even snailmail me at TRE-BRON, NORTH HILL, CHACEWATER, TRURO CORNWALL TR4 8NW Regards Brian VINTAGE, CLASSIC & SPORTS CAR SHOW AND GIANT AUTOJUMBLE TATTON PARK, KNUTSFORD, CHESHIRE SATURDAY & SUNDAY 21st & 22nd August, 2010 MANCHESTER GROUP STAND This year the Manchester Standard Triumph Group are again organising a Stand at the north west’s prestigious show at Tatton Park, near Knutsford, Cheshire and we are inviting all members of the Standard Motor Club to join us on our stand with their vehicle(s). Stamford Car Show - Sunday 29th August. The Standard Motor Club will have a display again this year at the Stamford Car Show on Sunday 29th August. Last year we had an excellent range of cars from 1927 up to 1961 and we hope to do even better this year. As Stamford is such a great place to come and visit for the weekend I am organising a road run for those who wish to arrive on Saturday and stay over for a night or two. I'm aware that you will need time to get to Stamford on the Saturday morning so I would plan that we meet in the grounds of Burghley House at 3pm and then take a drive, including a tea stop/place of interest before a pub meal in the evening. For those who wish to stay on the Sunday night, please let me know and I will also arrange a road run for us on the Monday. The car show on Sunday is a static display on the Meadows right in the centre of the town by the river and I recommend getting onto the field early (10am) to avoid waiting in the long queues that build up through the town. There is plenty to see for the car enthusiasts from classic to custom and modern to motorcycle. For those less interested in the cars the event is in the centre of the town so you can wander around the shops and cafes, take lunch at the famous George Hotel or just take a stroll and admire the old stone architecture. More details and the entry
form (FREE !) have just been published on their website : 2 Standards are already known to have entered - will yours be there? For more details and
accomodation options please contact Conan Lewis For more information about
