Shackle Bushes – Remanufacturing
The remanufacture of spares and the
provision of them to members is amongst the most important aims of
the club. Some of your membership fee is
used to commission the remanufacture of spares that are no longer available. Therefore, to avail yourself of the Spares Service, you
must be a current member and you will be asked for your membership
number. This avoids non-members taking advantage of members

As part of our initiative to make
more new spare parts available to members, we are pleased to
announce this new service to provide remanufactured spring shackle
bushes for all Standard Motor Cars. The new parts are to a
superior specification and use polyurethane, rather than rubber.
These have both a longer life and superior performance compared to
the original equipment, providing superior handling and
road-holding. In order to
ensure that we provide you with the right bushes, please enquire
on the attached form. While the service is in its infancy, we need
as much information as possible to ensure you get the right parts
for your model. Hopefully we will be able to supply off the shelf
later when we understand the likely demand.
The photograph above shows a
typical application. The bush comes in two parts, thats the blue
polyurethane. One part of the bush is shown inserted in the spring
eye, it is a push fit. The other bush is pushed in from the other
side and the steel insert pushed through both bushes. Also shown
is a complete assembled bush.
