Three Counties Group
Having had a few positive responses from the local Standard Motor Club members I have arranged for a first meeting of the 3 Counties (Berkshire, Hampshire and Surrey) Local group. This is to be held on Wednesday 28th March at about 8pm at the Crooked Billet on the A30 just east of Hook (thecrookedbilletpub.co.uk). The evening will be to generally have a chat about our cars and their problems, or whatever, and discuss the ongoing meeting venue and other related matters for following meetings, the intention being to hold such meetings on the last Wednesday of every month.
There is no obligation to arrive in your Standard or indeed to be at every meeting. Anyway if you can make it that would be excellent and perhaps you could let me know one way or the other.
My wife Alison and I will be there anyway so hope to see you on the day.
Very best wishes,

3 Counties Group End of Year Report 2018
(Covering East Berkshire/West Surrey/North East Hampshire)
Since the group was started at the end of March 2108 we have had interest from up to 14 members, most of those having been to the meetings at one time or another on the last Wednesday of each month at the Crooked Billet on the A30 near Hook, Hampshire. Nine local members are on the email circulation list and we happily welcome any interested new members.
We meet for just a social chat, compare our vehicles and discuss their various problems and running experiences. A significant number do not have their cars on the road as they are awaiting restoration work to start or are in progress. It is interesting that the majority of our members car’s are pre-
Numbers at each of the meetings has varied from just 4 up to 10 with an average of about 6 whilst one or two potential attendees have not joined us probably because we are perceived as not serious enough or our meetings are too far from where they live.
The last meeting of 2018 will have been on the last Wednesday of November with some simple Christmas Fare being enjoyed by those attending since we decided not to meet on the last Wednesday of December, that being Boxing Day. However on New Year’s Day there is always a VSCC meeting at the Phoenix, similarly on the A30 at Hartley Wintney, where we will be encouraging members to attend with their cars if they can. Otherwise our first meeting of 2019 will be on the last Wednesday of January, the 30th, same time, same place.
In conclusion we wish all Standard Motor Club members a Merry Christmas along with a very Happy New Year -
